Clinical Hypnosis Online in New York

Clinical hypnosis is a focused, relaxed state of attention, guided by a trained clinician, used to work with feelings, beliefs and body responses that sit below conscious thought. It isn’t stage hypnosis, and you don’t lose control.

I’m certified in clinical hypnosis and a member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH). I use hypnotherapy as one part of integrative work with adults in New York State, by video.

What hypnotherapy can help with

I use hypnosis alongside talk therapy, Somatic Experiencing and EMDR, rather than as a stand-alone fix. It can be useful for:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Trauma, as a way to build a sense of safety and inner resources
  • Depression, alongside other therapy
  • Grief and loss
  • Performance pressure for performing and creative artists
  • Patterns you understand but can’t seem to change

How I use hypnosis in therapy

Many of the people I see are curious about themselves but stuck. They understand their patterns and still repeat them. Hypnosis gives us a way to work with the part of the mind that runs on habit and emotion rather than logic.

A hypnosis segment starts with focusing attention and settling the body. From there we might strengthen a sense of calm you can return to, rehearse responding differently to a hard situation, or approach a painful memory with more support. You can hear everything, speak, and open your eyes and stop whenever you want.

Over time I often teach self-hypnosis, so you have a tool to use between sessions.

Who this is for and sessions online

Hypnotherapy suits adults who want an experiential approach, one that changes how things feel and not only how you think about them. It isn’t right for everyone, and we’ll talk through whether it fits at the start.

Sessions are by secure video for adults located in New York State. You’ll need a private, comfortable place where you can sit back and won’t be interrupted. To start, request an appointment or call (917) 570-0053.

Questions about clinical hypnosis

Is clinical hypnosis safe?

Used by a trained, licensed clinician, clinical hypnosis is generally considered safe. You remain aware and in control, and you can stop at any time. Some people feel emotional or tired afterward. I take a history first and check whether hypnosis is a good fit, especially for people with dissociation or certain other mental health conditions.

Can you be hypnotized online?

Yes. Hypnosis relies on focused attention and the clinician’s guidance, and both work by video. You’ll sit somewhere comfortable and private, with your device steady and your sound clear. We plan how to handle any interruption before we begin, and I bring you back fully alert before the session ends.

What is the difference between clinical hypnosis and stage hypnosis?

Stage hypnosis is entertainment. Clinical hypnosis is a therapy method used by licensed health professionals, with goals you choose together. Nobody makes you do anything you don’t want to do. In therapy, hypnosis is a way to focus attention inward so you can work with emotions, memories and body responses more directly.

Will I remember what happens under hypnosis?

Most people remember the session. Clinical hypnosis feels more like focused absorption, similar to getting lost in a book or driving a familiar route. You can hear me, answer questions and stop whenever you choose. Afterward we talk about what came up and how it connects to your goals.
